Pick bins - Top tips for choosing the right solution

Pick bins assist in the selection of products in a range of settings from micro manufacturers to large scale automated warehouses and pretty much everything in between.
But if you’re pondering which bins are best for your business operations, there’s a few things you should consider before pressing ‘buy’ or ordering from our customer service team.
We guide you through some of the points that are well worth considering ensuring the pick bins you choose support every facet of your business to perfection, making product storage, stock management and order picking seamless.
Which material suits you best
Corrugated or polypropylene? Which will support your business best?
Corrugated is by far our most popular bin material and our range of corrugated bins comes in many shapes and sizes.
Corrugated is used to manufacture stock bins in our A, B, C, D and MS ranges whilst polypropylene is used to manufacture stock bins in our TPA range.
Polypropylene is often chosen by businesses in engineering, pharmaceutical, healthcare and workshops or other related environments where high volumes of grease dirt, liquid or oil is present, as the bins and totes are oil and water resistant and can be easily wiped clean.
Whilst our corrugated bins are used in myriad sectors and environments, offering a solution for almost all operations.
Size matters
Considering the size of the bins required is important, especially where shelving or specific bin locations are provided. With over 50 size options to choose from our stock range covers most requirements. Our A range is 100mm high, our B range is 200mm high and our C Range 300mm high. Our MS range offers a variety of stackable solutions, whilst Our D range offers bins with multiple compartments, adding even more flexibility at the point of picking.
Ensuring the bins sit perfectly within the space allocated alleviates any chance of bins being knocked from shelving, perhaps losing or misplacing valuable products, especially important on manufacturing lines where components for each process are provided in bins ensuring easy location and separation.
Consider access required
How will the bins and products within them be accessed? Is it necessary to be able to pick the product by simply reaching into the bin. Or due to shelving or location requirements will the bin have to be moved forward to access the product? Furthermore, how will stock replenishment in the bins happen?
Many of our designs work well together as families of bins; suited when different size products require storage bringing numerous options and configurations to ensure an easily managed solution is found.
Stacking it high?
We have specific types of bins, namely the Multi-Stack (MS) range and totes which easily stack allowing our customers to be able to optimise space utilisation in trade counter, pick faces, warehouse operations and more.
Product can still be easily accessed with both bins and totes available in a variety of sized to suit common shelf and racking specifications.
